Directory publisher wins top industry awardsAP Information Services Ltd. had something to celebrate when they won both “Publisher of the Year” and “Subscription Sales Team of the Year” at the Data Publishers Association (DPA) 2005 annual awards dinner at the Millennium Mayfair Hotel, London. In front of over 250 members of the Data Publishers Association, television presenter and journalist, Paul Ross, presented Managing Director, Alan Philipp and his wife, Finance & Personnel Director Gail Philipp, with the award for “Publisher of the Year”. The DPA Judges commented:“AP Information Services truly highlights the best in directory publishing as well as expanding its visibility online. It is known as a highly credible company and for consistently delivering credible publications. You automatically know that its directories work.” Established for over 28 years AP Information Services Ltd. is one of the most highly respected business information providers in the UK, providing its customers with accurate, up-to-date and easily accessible business information in any form they require. The company began in 1977 when founder and Managing Director Alan Philipp had the opportunity of starting a pension funds directory and decided to give up his full-time job and concentrate on publishing directories. Commenting on the DPA awards Alan stated:“It is a great honour to have been recognized within the directory publishing industry in this way. As a local family run business competing against the likes of Yellow Pages and Thomson Directories this award comes as a true recognition of both the quality of our products and the hard work invested by myself and Gail and the rest of our magnificent staff over the years”. Note to editors:The DPA was established in 1970 to promote the interests of bona-fide directory and database publishers. Today it is known as the Data Publishers Association. The change in name expresses the changes in an industry, which now embraces a much bigger picture than the traditional print directory. The DPA represents the best in all types of data publishing and has both UK and overseas-based members. Alan Philipp retired at the Conference as Chairman of the Association. During his 2-year term of office he instigated many substantial changes, including the change of name and logo as well as a complete change to the secretariat.
